Some Private Colleges See Unexpected Increase in Early Admissions Applications
11/20/2008

A November 19, 2008 U.S. News & World Report article reports that, contrary to what many experts had projected based on the current economic climate, some private colleges have seen a significant increase in the volume of early applications received this year. Possible reasons for the unexpected surge in early applications include students' desire to solidify their plans as soon as they can, as well as the continuing trend of students submitting applications to several colleges. The article states that not all private colleges have seen an increase in applications and, depending on what the nation's economic future holds, this year's overall admissions cycle will likely be unpredictable.

The article is available at the U.S. News & World Report Web site.
